Saatvaks organisatsiooniks on Avatud Ühiskond MTÜ. Noortevahetuse eesmärk on tuua kokku noored huvilised vanuses 18-25, et suurendada noorte keskkonnateadlikust.  Osalejate jaoks toimub ettevalmistav kohtumine Tallinnas. 

Rahvusvaheline noortevahetus on erinevatest Euroopa riikidest pärit noortegruppide omavaheline koostööprojekt, mis on välja töötatud ja ellu viidud noorte poolt ning kus tegeletakse noorte jaoks oluliste teemadega. Projekt võib kesta 5-21 päeva. Noortevahetus on hea võimalus õppida tundma teisi kultuure ja noori teistest riikidest ning tegeleda just nende teemadega, mis on noorte jaoks olulised. Noortevahetuses saavad osaleda noored vanuses 13–30 eluaastat, oluline pole noore perekonnaseis, haridustase, rahvus ega keeleoskus. Noortevahetuses osalemiseks on tähtsaim noore soov kogeda ja õppida midagi uut. Saatvaks organisatsiooniks on Avatud Ühiskond MTÜ.

General information and description of the project

The Youth Exchange “Sustainable future” is organized by cultural association “Civil Life Associationa” in Bursa, Turkey, during the period of 28.10.2019 – 03.11.2019, including 36 participants and five members from each country(four participants + group leader).

Civil Life Association is a youth association founded in 2013 in Bursa. The management structure and the volunteers of the association consists of young people between the ages of 16-29. It has 22 local committees in different cities and operates in local, national and international areas. In May 2017, the Civil Life Association was entitled the status of the United Nations ECOSOC. It has membership and accreditation in many international platforms. Civil Life Association is there presentative of the environmental clean liness movement “Let’s Do It!” in Turkey.With increasing number of participants in the last 3 years, it has been a practitioner of the movement in Turkey. In addition, it is also there presentative of the European Youth Card Association (EYCA) in Turkey. The Association collaborates with Youth Health Organization (YHO), Eurodesk and World Health Organization (WHO). The Civil Life Association has 6 working groups. These are youth health, environment and youth, democratic participation, culture and art, disadvantaged youth and social inclusion, innovation and entreprene

urship. These working groups were prepared within the framework of “Turkey’s National Youth and Sports Policy” by considering the needs of the youth and their social position. The Civil Life Association has 5.348 volunteers in 22 different cities. There are 7 different training modules designed for young people and applied in all of these cities. These training modules are based on the thematic titles of the working groups. Anyone with or without a volunteer can participate in these trainings. The Civil Life Association closely monitors national and international studies in the youth field.

Aims and goals of the project

Our intention is to work acculturation and interculturality through traditional activities. This will be the motto for a group of young people to come together to promote their roots and to discuss and experience the value of traditions as a unifying element of peoples and cultures as well as their formative value, since this fosters the sharing, cooperation and acceptance of self and others, values that we want to see instilled in the young people who will build the future of Europe, which we want to be tolerant, equal and respectful of our heritage and culture. The young people who will participate in this exchange will have the opportunity to develop their capacity for questioning and critical reflection on the society in which they live and their origins, contributing positively to becoming enlightened, autonomous citizens aware of their role in society and cultural values that surround them.

The project is concerned with sustainable development goals and non-formal learning. The project focused on a total of 4 main issues. The first focus is on “Intercultural Dia- logue”. In this regard, capacity training on intercultural learning will be provided. “Histo- rical Drama Performance” will be performed in order to reinforce intercultural learning. The second main issue is “Social Inclusion”. Participants will conduct painting and pain- ting-based activities with older people in the nursinghome. The third activity concerns “Environmental and Climate Action”. Within the scope of this activity, sustainable development goals will be introduced, and what can be done for a better world will be discussed. In a designated area, a short cleaning of the recyclable wastes will be done and seedlings and trees will be planted.

The final focus is on “Healthy Living”. Participants will be informed about healthy living and will design a spontaneous flashmob show in a shoppingmall to draw attention to healthy living. Apart from the main activities, there are many supporting activities. These are surprise for now. At the end of the project activity, the participants will have a youth pass certificate, europass language certificate, a letter of reference and a national certificate of participation. The conclusion of this project will be to increase the prevalence of the concept of non-formal education locally, to make more use of non-formal education in the inclusion of the disadvantaged groups involved in the project, the realization of social inclusion practices in intercultural dialogue and strengthening of inter cultural dialogue and discrimination. The effects are anticipated as a result of creating.

Participants profile

35 youngsters who are between 16-25 years old belonging to partner organizations, involved, interested and motivated to participate in the project. Participants are people who fit the criteria mentioned above, such as are N.E.E.T or otherwise unoccupied. In the selection phase, people presenting the unemployed profile, such as are N.E.E.T or otherwise unoccupied, will have the highest priority. In addition, in the respect of equal opportunities, gender balance will be guaranteed. Having an interest in the project’s topic is mandatory – it’s not a holiday!

  • All participants have to be over 16 years old as otherwise, they cannot participate in the project. Exceptions will be made for those who are with fewer opportunities.
  • All participants should speak and understand English.
  • Participants should be curious of discovering other cultures.
  • Participants should be interested in making follow up international projects.

The Venue: Bursa, Turkey

Bursa is a large city in Turkey, located in northwestern Anatolia, within the Marmara Region. It is the fourth most populous city in Turkey and one of the most industrialized metropolitan centres in the country. The city is also the administrative centre of Bursa Province.

Bursa (Ottoman Turkish: بورسا‎) was the first major and second overall capital of the Ottoman State between 1335 and 1363. The city was referred to as Hüdavendigar (خداوندگار, from Persian “God’s gift”) during the Ottoman period, while a more recent nickname is Yeşil Bursa (“Green Bursa”) in reference to the parks and gardens located across its urban fabric, as well as to the vast and richly varied forests of the surrounding region. Mount Uludağ, the ancient Mysian Olympus, towers over it, and has a well-known ski resort. Bursa has rather orderly urban growth and borders a fertile plain. The mausoleums of the early Ottoman sultans are located in Bursa and the city’s main landmarks include numerous edifices built throughout the Ottoman period. Bursa also has thermal baths and several museums, including a museum of archaeology.

The shadow play characters Karagöz and Hacivat are based on historic personalities who lived and died in Bursa. The city is also known for Turkish dishes such as İskender kebap, its candied marron glacé chestnuts, Bursa peaches, and production of Turkish Delight. Bursa houses the Uludağ University, and its population can claim one of the highest overall levels of education in Turkey. The historic towns of İznik (Nicaea), Mudanya and Zeytinbağı are in its province.

In 2015, Bursa had a population of 1,854,285. Bursa Province had 2,842,000 inhabitants

– You can bring and also prepare some meals for cultural nights if desired.
– Lunches and Dinners outdoors located in local restaurants.

Responsibilities

Each participant should have valid health insurance (for example European Health Card) and travel insurance during the whole participation in the project. Also, participants must have during the youth exchange the travel documents: identity card/passport.

Each national group will have the occasion to present their country, culture, customs and traditions to all participants. You can bring food, drinks, songs and other traditional things specific to your country. Participants must prepare a presentation of the sending organization which will be presented during the workshop Networking. So bring with you material about your organization (brochures, flyers, etc.). Avatud Ühiskond MTÜ will assist you with that. For the project, each national group should prepare brief research about the project topic. Avatud Ühiskond will be able to help with that as well – we are going to have a preparatory meeting in Estonia with the whole group and the group leader has the possibility to attend the advanced preparatory meeting.

  • NGO MARKET: You and Your Organization The experience of participants and their organizations is an important element for the learning process and the success of the course. That is why we have decided to organize a NGO market in order to give the opportunity to each of you to share your experience in your organization. Therefore; we would ask you to prepare and bring relevant information about projects that you have been involved in. You should be prepared to explain your and your organization’s work to the other participants, but we would like to ask you not to spend time on preparing presentations, as the format of this sharing element will probably not allow for long presentations to the whole group.
  • INTERCULTURAL EVENINGS We are planning to hold as part of the official program 3 intercultural evenings and a Turkish Traditional Night (two countries in one evening). This represents an opportunity for you to share elements of your culture and reality with the others. Each country will have a certain amount of time to be on the red carpet and delight the rest of us with the beauty of its culture. Just a fewexamples of things you could prepare: food, drinks, dances, songs, contest, traditional gift things, flags, leaflets, etc. We strongly recom- mend making this evening a very dynamic, interactive one, and not touse Power Point presentations only.
  • CULTURAL COFFEE BREAKS We planned cultural coffee breaks. Every day a country will coordinate coffee breaks and we will all have the opportunity to taste local beauties. We are waiting for 1 package of traditional/local coffee from every country 🙂

Relevant information:

The Erasmus + Programme will cover 100% of the accommodation, food and activities and will reimburse 100% of the travel costs for the participants – up to 360 euros. It is recommended to have disposal for small expenses such as souvenirs. Take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions. Whereas possible, the participation fee shall be paid by the municipality, school or employer.

Participants will receive a  “Youthpass” certificate which describes and validates the non-formal and informal learning experience gained during the project. Youthpass is a European recognition tool for non-formal and informal learning in youth work, developed by SALTO, initially for the Youth in Action programme. Youthpass is for projects funded by Erasmus+ youth programmes and helps the participants of those projects to record their learning and skills development, which could then be used to support job applications or applications for further courses for example. The applicants will be notified 10.04.2019 the latest.
